Kitten Art

Mona's Cats

Mona’s seven year old niece Susan is a big fan of our foster kittens and reads the blog. She even drew pictures of them, so we thought it would be fun to compare her pictures to the real thing.

If you like Susan’s drawings leave a comment below!

Oops!

There are two universal truisms about kittens:

  1. If you leave a closet door open they will go inside.
  2. If they find a roll of paper towels they will unroll it.

Kittens in Watercolor

Looks like our kittens are getting quite a following! Mona’s nieces even sent along a watercolor painting after seeing their photos on the web site.

I compared the painting to the real kitties and it’s pretty close. Except that Maddie is not really half purple and half yellow. (Apparently those were the colors they had…)

Milkshake

Come play with me!!

Hi – I’m Milkshake, and my mom Mona is typing this blog entry for me. Dale and Mona are great foster parents and all, but I get bored hanging around the house with just them. I *really* want some other people to play with me and my 3 siblings. We’re hyper, but we promise to entertain you too. Won’t you come over and play??

Bailey

Something fishy is going on in the office.  Dale and Mona keep going in there with cat toys and cans of food.  I can’t see much under the door but I’m on the case.  Will let you know what I find out.

Introducing the Kittens

Wow! It’s hard to believe but we’ve had our little fur-kids for a whole day.  It hasn’t taken long to get a sense for their individual personalities and we have already given them names. So, without further ado… meet the kittens:

Milkshake stands out immediately because he’s the only white cat in the bunch.  He’s a funny little guy with Groucho Marx eyebrows and a grey tail that looks like it was dipped it in a paint bucket.  He’s also the little Energizer Bunny of the group — he keeps going and going and going…

Bella is a little black kitty with a distinctive white patch on her chest.  She’s a bit quieter and more reserved.  When the other kittens are wrestling each other to the floor she prefers to sit back and watch.  Bella loves to be held, and if you pick her up she’s likely to melt into your arm and go to sleep in short order.

Java is a solid black kitten and spends half his time wrestling with Milkshake.  We haven’t figured out how to tell Java and Bella apart from above yet, so we have to keep picking them up to check for a white spot on the chest.

Maddie is easy to spot because she’s the only tabby in the litter. In addition to being a little tornado of energy she’s also the troublemaker of the bunch.  Turn your back on her for a second and the next think you know she’s pulling 5.13c moves on the window screen or wedging herself between the cushions on the couch.

These guys need to get as much human interaction as possible, so stop by and meet them!

Big News!

Big news!  Mona and I are officially “foster parents” for a litter of four kittens.  This is our first experience as foster parents and it seems like every time we turn around we’re discovering something important we hadn’t thought of.  Thankfully, we’re working with a great organization called MEOW Cat Rescue in Kirkland, WA.  We showed up like a couple of clueless morons to pick up the kittens but the very patient staff walked us through everything, loaded us down with cat toys and food, and sent us on our way with a box full of kittens.  Whew!

We’re supposed to keep the kittens separate from our resident cats, Bailey and Finney, for at least a few weeks to keep them from passing along any diseases.  We converted our study to a kitten room (or as I like to call it, “Cat Disneyland”) and snuck the kittens in while the other cats weren’t looking.  Our goal is to keep them under the radar as long as possible.  Wish us luck…

We will post updates and photos as soon as possible!
